County governments in Nyanza have been told to stop misusing public vehicles.
The county governments were told to avoid misusing the vehicles which some people said were being used past 6pm.
Kisumu City Residents Voice Association chairman Audi Ogada said police should seize any county vehicle seen outside night clubs and those operating past working hours.
Ogada termed the act as corruption and should not be tolerated.
"Police should ensure all institution and government vehicles operate with work tickets. Some drivers misuse the vehicles for personal gain. This is corruption and should not be tolerated," Ogada said.
Kisumu County Youth Caucus coordinator Dennis Menya said they have reliable information that some officers have been using the vehicles for personal business.
Menya added that county vehicles with green registration plates are usually seen at entertainment venues past working hours.
"The county governments are losing millions of shillings to fuel the cars, which are not being used for the intended purposes," he said.
Kisumu Deputy Governor Ruth Odinga had earlier warned county staff, including executives and chief officers, against misuse of the vehicles.
Ms Odinga said county vehicles are county resources and not personal properties.
