Led by Kitutu Chache South Lawmaker Hon. Richard Onyonka at Gusii Stadium during Mashujaa Day celebrations, the leaders reiterated need for area leadership to work together for the sake of development.

“We do not have time for political rhetoric and character assassination. Time has come for us to shun myopic leadership characterized by constant political squabbles”, said Mr. Onyonka.

He hailed Governor Ongwae for his relentless efforts to ensure equal representation in the county government leadership and special emphasis in development. “Our governor has demonstrated that he is a man of duty.

"We have just seen shovels, Dibbers, Bulldozers and other equipment needed for rectification of poor infrastructure” said Mr. Onyonka.

Mr. Onyonka promised to rally other area leaders to join hands with the county government for easy delivery of services to the people.

Area Women Representative echoed her National Assembly counterpart by calling all elected members to work together.

“When it comes to development, we must desist from cheap politics based on political party affiliation. I call all leaders from this County to support Mr. Ongwae”, said Mrs. Otara.

The two ODM legislators applauded area Heroes and Heroines for their unconditional sacrifice to the nation.

“ we salute heroes led by Charles Nyantika, Late Naftali Temu, Moraa Ng’iti and other influential politicians from this area”, said Mr. Onyonka.

Hon. Ongwae has recently faced criticism from some MPs from the region accusing him of maladministration, grand corruption and marginalization of some clans.

The corruption allegations led to sermons from the Senate Committee in charge of Public Accounts chaired by Senator Bonny Khalwale.

Kisii County constitutes nine constituencies and only Hon. Onyonka was present together with Women Representative.

Mr. Ongwae welcomed the move by the two legislators terming it as ‘courageous and heroic’ and urged other leaders to join and support his developmental initiatives.

Among those present were MPs Richard Onyonka and Mary Otara, Governor James Ongwae and his Deputy Joash Maangi, MCAs. The national government was represented by County Commissioner Mr. Chege Mwangi.
