The county government of Uasin Gishu has lost close to Sh25 million in terms of unpaid billboards and banners erected in Eldoret town.
This has prompted the county's Licencing and Compliance Department to order the pulling down of all billboards and banners not paid for.
According to the department's deputy director Jonah Lamai, most of the unpaid billboards belong to politicians eyeing elective positions in the August polls.
"Politicians and businesses who have not complied with the county's regulations should be warned that their banners and billboards will be pulled down. We won't allow our town to be filled with banners and billboards that have not been paid for," noted Lamai when he supervised the pulling down of billboards along the Uganda road on Monday.
"As at now we have lost Sh25 million due to Politicians and businesses evading to pay billboard and banners levies," he added.
He also urged those who have erected their billboards to ensure they include signages for the County government to facilitate issuance of invoices.
