Rigena human rights watch organisation chairman Thomson Osoro has said Kisii county government pays Sh500,000 every month for the fire engine it has.
According to Osoro, the county has no fire engine but it hires from the International Center of Technology and pays a lot of taxpayers’ money every month.
Addressing the press on Thursday in Kisii town, Osoro alleged that the fire engine used by the county is useless and many county residents and businessmen have lost their properties whenever there is fire outbreak.
“I have the documents which show how our county government pays money for the fire engine every month, we need transparency,” said Osoro.
“The hiring of the fire engine is against the law since a lot of money goes out, the county was to spend the money it pays every month which is Sh500, 000 to buy its own fire engine to save taxpayers money," he added.
He finally challenged the county to buy its own fire engine and stop misusing the taxpayers’ money in paying for the fire engine every month.
