Nyamira County Chief Officer of Health Douglas Bosire has revealed that the county uses Sh16 million every month to buy medicines, dismissing rumours of drug shortages in hospitals.
Addressing journalists in Nyamira town, Bosire said those spreading the rumours do not mean well for the county.
“We have heard that there are some people who are spreading rumours that most of the county hospitals and dispensaries are facing a shortage of drugs and I am here to say that is false information,” said Bosire.
“Our hospitals are well equipped and the county uses Sh16 million every month to buy drugs, those accusing the government over the same are fighting the county politically,” he added.
He also added that the county has ordered more medicines from the Kenya Medical Supply Authority, a consignment that is expected to be delivered soon.
“Our county government is devoted to improving the heath sector to save lives once residents fall sick,” he insisted.
