Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago has promised to push for health facilities in the county to be accredited by the National Hospital and Insurance Fund (NHIF).
Speaking in Eldoret town on Wednesday, Mandago said this will ensure residents get quality health service at an affordable rate."In support of the National government initiative of providing universal health care, I will ensure that 50 percent of our health facilities are NHIF accredited. I want residents to get quality health care," said the Jubilee governor."I call upon the National government through the Ministry of Health to pilot the Universal Health programme with county and National government's health facilities before rolling out in private health facilities," he added.Mandago, however, revealed that his administration has set aside 40 perfect of its budget to fund the health services sector."We will ensure that all our health facilities are well stocked with enough drugs," he noted.
