Kisumu County Lands Board will handle land grabbing issues raised by the Muslim community in the region, the county government as said.

Governor Jack Ranguma said the County Land Board will be taking up the matter that has been raised by Muslim leaders for many years in Kisumu.

“Land issues are delicate but I will try my best through the lands board to ensure you people get justice,” said Ranguma while meeting Muslim leaders to discuss issues affecting the Muslim community.

Nominated MCA Farida Salim had stated that Muslims have continued to live as squatters on their land for many years.

Most Muslims in Kisumu occupy Kaloleni, Manyatta and Lumumba estates and there have been land issues in the estates.

“There is need for the intervention by the county government to help address the problem with the aim of helping the affected Muslims to get title deeds,” said Ms Salim.

The Muslim community vowed to stick together so that they can present their grievances with one voice that will make them achieve their goals by being heard with seriousness.
