The new footbridge, which cost an estimated Sh500,000 was initiated by the county leadership in 2015 as part of a series of county government projects to mitigate effects of long rains that were experienced in the region.

Speaking to the reporter on Wednesday, the residents, led by Charles Makori said the project would give residents easy access to a number of learning institutions in the region.

“As a community, we want to laud the county government for this great project. We are happy that our children and teachers can now access various institutions without major problems. Previously, they were forced to use longer routets,” he said.

They also said the footbridge will enhance trade between Gachuba and Kemera ward, a move that will improve people’s living standards.

“We are optimistic that our people can now access Girango market in Gachuba which is a central market. This footbridge will boost trade among residents from other wards. As residents, we will not hesitate to utilize the opportunity to boost our livelihoods,” he added.

They however urged the county government to consider improving a section of feeder roads in the region which are said to be in deplorable conditions.

“This is not all, we are optimistic that the county government can still do more. We want to see feeder roads Improved here. Otherwise this is a good work and we fully support the county government,” Makori said.
