Machakos County Deputy Governor Francis Maliti on Thursday led the commissioning of the borehole at Ivumbini Village in Yatta Sub County.
The governor assistant was happy to accomplish one of the promises made to the people of Yatta during the gubernatorial campaign.
Maliti said the launch of the borehole was for the shorter time and was going to serve residents who had struggled with inadequate supply of clean water.
“I officially commissioned a high yield borehole at Ivumbini Village in Yatta Sub County. The launch of the borehole is timely as it will serve area residents who have for long had to contend with lack of adequate supply of clean water,” wrote Maliti on his official twitter account.
It was a moment of smile to the residents of Yatta as they enjoyed free and clean tap water after the launch.
“I am happy to see wananchi from this locality enjoy free tap water; a manifestation of our promise to them during our first term in office,” said Maliti.
In December 2017, Yatta Member of Parliament Francis Mwangangi had warned residents to boil drinking water in a bid to curb the cholera outbreak but the county government effort to provide clean water will surely help.
