The county government of Uasin Gishu will be distributing food and other basic needs to various children's homes in celebrations for this year's Christmas.
Deputy governor Daniel Chemno further says the county will also be helping street children who were recently rescued from the Eldoret town streets.
Speaking at the County headquarters in Eldoret on Thursday night during the lighting of Christmas tree, Chemno asked locals to celebrate this year's Christmas with the less fortunate in society.
"The gift of Christmas is to remember others especially those who are the needy and less fortunate in society," said the deputy governor.
"As a county, we will be distributing food and other basic needs to children's homes across the county together with those at our rescue center especially now that we added more who were removed from the Eldoret town streets," he added.
Chemno further said as a Christmas gift, the street children with parents will be reunited with their families.During the lighting of the Christmas tree, well-wishers, county staff, and the general Uasin Gishu residents made contributions that will be channeled to helping the needy in society.
