The county believes that by acquiring its own machines, water provision will be more effective as equipment will be shifted to sites easily.

This is even as Governor Jackson Mandago's last-term intray bears water provision as among priorities.

Addressing the people of Moiben Ward on Thursday, Mandago disclosed that his government will purchase drilling and desilting equipment.

"My government is keen on giving you water this term. Water is a commodity that we cannot do without," Mandago said.

He said that his government has been losing a lot of funds to contractors who quote exorbitant prices to drill boreholes and sink dams.

"I have often said that I do not support tenders especially for roads and other projects that we can do by half the price given to contractors," he said.

"This financial year, we shall buy our own machines to cut on costs and to be swift in doing projects," said Mandago, adding "Then the only costs we will be incurring is fuel and maintenance of machines."
