As a way of reducing adverse effects brought by climate change, the county government of Uasin Gishu is working towards surpassing the 10 percent tree cover across the county.According to Environment, Water and Natural Resources executive Mary Njogu, the county been educating the Public on ways of protecting the environment, encouraging farmers to plant trees on their farms and ensuring that tree cover is made constant through planting trees regularly.Speaking during a workshop on mitigation measures on climate change, Ms. Njogu further pointed out that as ways of protecting the environment, the county has been planting trees frequently, the latest instance being during the National tree planting day which saw thousands of trees planted at Kaptagat Forest."Climate change is a problem that cuts across the entire universe. The environment is facing a lot of problems. We are part of these problems and we have no option other than to solve them," she said.The County executive also said they are working on ensuring a clean environment."We are working on proper waste management and we wish to keep the environment as clean and friendly as possible, this is a way of reducing situations that can bring climate change and global warming," Njogu said.
