The women representative observed that there exist disunity among many tribes and communities in some parts of the country.

Mbugua blamed some politicians for fuelling and instigating animosity.

“It is time politicians and other leaders across the country preached peace and unity,” she said.

The women rep added that development would be realised if only there is peace and unity across the country.

Mbugua asked the national government to move with speed and spearhead reconciliation forums among communities across the country.

She further asked the government to deal with hate mongers saying there is no one above the law.

“Every Kenyan is protected by the constitution and no one is above the law, the government should not spare hate mongers,” she explained.

Mbugua noted that if hate mongering is not controlled, it would result to skirmishes like those experienced during the 2007/2008 poll violence.

The women representative also appealed to the church to partner with other leaders and preach peace.

She said the church has a crucial role to play in unity and peace campaigns.
