Marsabit County Secretary Malicha Boru has been summoned over what is deemed as an unprocedural transfer of workers in the region.

In a letter dated April 17, Marsabit County Public Service Board faulted Boru for initiating the transfers with following the right procedures.

This comes after a section of the officials who were transferred last year wrote to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), lamenting about ethnic discrimination.

The county government spokesperson Issa Gambare has, however, dismissed the claims and termed them baseless.

“Every officer should accept the call to serve in offices that have been found suitable for them. Improvement of service delivery to our people can only be done when we have people serving them without hesitation,” said Mr. Gambore.

He also called upon the officials to report to the new places of work with immediate effect despite their discontent.

“Everyone should report to their new offices without causing any fracas and by all means, the government will ensure that happens,” said Mr. Gambore.

The county government fired several employees who lamented over the transfer.

The workers have, however, maintained that they will continue to defend their rights following the new move.
