A Kisii county askari was on Friday sacked after he reported to work while drank in Marani.

Those farmiliar with the incident said that the man only identified as Maburu had recieved several warnings to quit his drinking habits.  

“Despite the numerous warnings he has received from his bosses, he decided to report to work drank which did not pleas his boss," said Dorcas Nyaribo a trader at a local market. 

Things worsened when Governor James Ongwae toured the area and found Mr Maburu drank. 

It is then that other askaris frog matched the drank askari to his home based 50 metres away from Marani.  

“Even after he was taken to his home, he still came back and started to insult other workers in the presence of the governor," said Nyaribo.

"Locals were angered and descended on him with kicks and blows before they forced him out from the area for the governor to address the residents,” she added.
