Two Samburu county officials were on Friday charged with abuse of office.

Secretary Stephen Letinina and Tourism CEC Peter Leshakwet while appearing before Maralal principal magistrate Richard Koech were accused of irregularly awarding Africality Company a contract to manage Maralal Safari Lodge.

The offence was allegedly committed on November 1, 2014.

They faced a second count of willfully failing to comply with procedures and guidelines for awarding contracts.

They denied the charges and were released on Sh100,000 cash bail or Sh300,000 bond each.

Hearings were set for July 4 and 5.
