Small-scale traders from  Subukia market have asked the Nakuru government to clean the facility.

According to the traders, the market’s environment might cause waterborne diseases. Subukia Business Community chairman Manasseh Mwangi said the market, with at least 2,000 traders, lacks proper sanitation amenities.

“The county government’s inaction has driven away traders to Nyahururu town in Laikipia county,” Mwangi said.

The traders said waste water from the market drains into nearby rivers.
