The county government of Uasin Gishu has agreed to partner with National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) on road safety in a move to reduce fatalities on Kenyan roads.
County Secretary Peter Leley said the agreement will see the county government and NTSA join heads to ensure road accidents drops by at least 10 per cent.
"The county government is ready to help where possible, to help save lives on the roads," Leley said in his office after NTSA officials paid him a visit, Wednesday.
"Safety affects all of us. We are ready to join (NTSA) in efforts to ensure that our roads are safe and accidents are minimized," he added.
He revealed that Uasin Gishu county government has deployed some of its enforcement officers to manage road safety across Eldoret streets and roads outside the town.
Job Chirchir NTSA board member noted that the authority will regulate the rising cases of accidents through defining areas of operation for vehicles across the country.
"We want to ensure that road accidents drop by over 50 percent through road safety education," noted Chirchir.
