The Kiambu government has struck a deal with the World Bank to construct a flyover at Gatitu Junction in Thika, an official has revealed.
County assembly majority leader Patrick Chege on Tuesday told reporters that the flyover will ease transport and curb rising incidents where pedestrians are often knocked down by speeding motorists.
Chege said that the construction will commence ‘soon’, adding that the county has set aside enough funds to oversee infrastructure development.
“We have set aside enough money to ensure repair and renovation of all infrastructures across Kiambu,” he said.
Chege added that plans to tarmac the Blue Post Thika road and Chania road are underway.
He said that tarmacking the road will help residents to conduct their daily activities with ease and help promote development.
He said that under the new plan, a dual carriage way will be constructed along the road in order to ease transport and make it accessible and affordable.
The majority assembly leader asked area leaders to work together, saying that there is no time to play petty politics.
Chege said that he will spearhead initiatives meant to bring warring leaders together and ensure prosperity of the county.
