Speaking in Nyamira town, Sabwengi, who is also the Member of County Assembly for Kiabonyoru Ward said that the county assembly passed the Bill after residents gave their views on how they could pay taxes without being victimized or over charged.

He also said that the Bill is friendly to the people, and has been passed only awaiting the Governor’s signature to start working as county Laws.

“The assembly has already passed the bill after we had 10 sittings of two wards in each sitting and when they felt the people were too many, they were divided and people expressed their feelings and gave opinions and recommendations on the same and I can say it is a very friendly Bill,” he said.

He said that residents will pay lower taxes in areas like the Health sector, where CT scan tests will now cost 3,000 shillings from the 5,000 shillings that was charged before by the county health department.

He further added that the levies in other health centers were a bit high, where patients were normally asked to pay Sh200 per bed per night, but it is now down to Sh100 as they want to have health services affordable.
