The County Fiscal Strategy Paper for the 2015 - 2016 financial year was on Thursday passed by the Nakuru County Assembly.
The motion was sponsored by Moses Ndung'u, who is the Budget Committee Chairman.
Ndung'u told the assembly that the strategy paper was going to help all the executives in the county in identifying the key projects to be implemented, depending on the fund, which will be allocated.
“Before coming up with the county fiscal strategy paper, the budget committee went to all the sub-counties within the county, and we held public participations forums. We have identified the areas that requires more funding and the ones that requires less funding,” said Ndung'u.
Biashara Ward MCA Stephen Kuria opposed the motion, saying that the county assembly required sometime so as to go through the strategy paper since it was a very sensitive matter.
“This is something that requires some time since it is touching on the county budget. We need time so that we can go through it and also scrutinize it,” said Kuria.
Kuria, who was speaking at the assembly went ahead and said that the assembly could not just go and approve the paper in a rush, since the one day, which was given for deliberation was not even enough.
Eunice Wambui said that the members had already been given enough time to deliberate on the issue and there was no extension which was going to be granted.
