The County Government of Uasin Gishu department of health services has partnered with Ampath in a move aimed at empowering the community economically on health care management.
The piloting exercise is set to begin in Turbo sub county where the clinical health workers and other health teams will carry out free screening of various diseases at the community level to decongest the comprehensive care clinics.
Speaking on Wednesday in her office when a team from Ampath paid her courtesy call, the county executive in charge of health services Mrs Margaret Chepkwony said the initiative will economically empower the county's residents both in health and wealth.
"As the county government, we are concerned on the health status of our people and their economy as well," said Mrs Chepkwony.
"The team will identify possible number of people and organize them in groups where they will also be taught on how to raise funds and benefits that comes with it," reiterated the health services CeCM.
On his part, Dr.Laktabai from Ampath pointed out that the management of stable patients with mild disease in the community is preferable than being managed at the hospital.
Dr.Laktabai added that the community will also be sensitized on importance of having medical insurance.
Pro Joe Mamlin, the founder of Ampath is the initiator of the programme. Ampath have partnered with NHIF in providing medical cover to the public.
