Uasin Gishu deputy Governor Daniel Chemno has revealed that a new ultra-modern market set to be constructed will cost Sh300 million.

"We are holding talks with the European Union to set up Sh300 million in Kimmy estate. The farm produce market will target horticulture," he said in his office on Thursday.

"I recently hosted the Kenya's European Union team leader Edward Mwale to finalize the project appraisals. We are determined to ensure that the market is constructed," added Chemno.

He reiterated that the agreement will be signed in October and construction of the market will start immediately.

He, however, urged Uasin Gishu residents to embrace horticulture farming, rather than depending on maize and wheat only.

"Horticulture has ready market not only in Kenya but abroad compared to maize and wheat. Let’s practice it since it has more benefits compares to any other crop," noted Chemno.
