Kisii County government has announced plans to end congestion in Kisii town.

According to the county officer in charge of planning Moses Onderi, traders selling by roadsides, boda-boda, and matatu stages will be moved to areas that are spacious to ease transport and movement of people in town.

Onderi said stalls and shops operating in congested areas will be demolished.

“No one will be displaced in the plan but traders will be moved to areas where there is no congestion. Boda-boda and matatu operators should start preparing because the plan aims at streamlining the transport sector to ease operations,” he said.   

The officer asked all stakeholders to work together with the county to ensure the plan succeeds. 

“I urge those who may be out to oppose to come on board and give views on how the process of moving roadside traders, boda-boda and matatu operators from congested areas to make the movement of people into and out of Kisii town easy,” he added.
