Speaking at the event that was held at the Nyamira Boys Secondary School, the chief officer for Public Administration and Coordination of Decentralized Units, Alice Manoti said that the county government has put up measures to ensure disabled people are helped in improving their lives from all aspects.

She said that despite the National Government taking up most tasks, the county government is much closer to them noting revealing that it set aside Sh5 million for the disabled society in the 2015-16 budget.

“These are our brothers and sisters and they need our support, they are not different from us,” she said.

She also called on their representatives to ensure disabled people in the county are registered and in groups which will make it easier for them to be helped.

This comes after the secretary of the people living with disability in the county of Nyamira Maranga Sangara called on the county government to ensure more is done to improve their welfare.

He also called on both the national and county government to adhere to the constitutional requirement of 5 percent for the disabled in recruitments and stop delays in releasing education relief funds.
