The funds had been allocated for the disabled in the past two financial years but had not been utilised due to lack of proper guidelines.

Speaking during the issuarance of the cheques to Sub-county administrators, governor Jackson Mandago assured the funds would benefit only people living with disabilities.He said the department of Children and Social services had undertaken a survey that saw all those living with disabilities across the county documented."We are releasing this funds because we now have modernities on how they will be utilised for the benefit of the intended persons," said Mandago."The cash will be going to specific people whom we have already listed in each of the six subcounties," he added.According to statistics by the county government, the Sh23 million would be used to benefit over 4,000 people living with disabilities.Kesses sub-county has the highest number of beneficiaries at 877, Soy (758), 750 in Turbo while Kapseret, Ainabkoi and Moiben ould have 672, 574 and 553 beneficiaries respectively.
