The county government of Mombasa on Saturday completed discussions geared towards developing the County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP) that will be implemented for five years, between 2018 and 2022.The discussions involved departmental chief officers and directors from the Mombasa county government, the office of the governor, the county secretary, sub-county administration and the county Public Service Board.The stakeholders have held talks concerning the implementation of the CIDP for the last four years.The CIDP plan is aimed at guiding planning and budgeting in Mombasa County for the next five years.The stakeholders in their various sector working groups reviewed achievements and challenges that affected the implementation of the 2013-2017 CIDP.Among the recommendations that were agreed upon include the need to come up with realistic budgets and improved revenue collection to ensure departmental projects and programmes are successfully implemented.The participants recognised the need to strengthen intergovernmental relations to increase funding for developments among other pointers.Mombasa Deputy Governor Dr William Kingi who opened the workshop on Friday urged the officers to take keen focus on developing a document that will benefit the people of Mombasa.“Each county shall have a five-year CIDP as stipulated in the Article 220 of the Constitution of Kenya, Article 126 (3) of the Public Finance Management Act and 108 of the County Government Act,” said Dr Kingi during the meeting.
