The County Government of Uasin Gishu has officially rolled the issuance of E-permits to all traders applying for 2018 single business permit.
Speaking while overseeing the e-permit issuance at the county headquarters on Tuesday, Licencing and Compliance Director Silas Kering said the department was impressed with the high number of applicants who turned up.
He said the department was making their effort to ensure that all the clients who turn up to apply for the permit is served within the shortest time possible.
The director noted that the applicants need not to physically go to the county premises to apply for the business permit but rather make their application from the comfort of the premises as long as one can access internet.
The applicants must register the business online before they apply for the permit after which it goes through a two-step approval from the ward licensing clerk and licensing officer who generates an invoice and payment made through mobile banking and other financial institution.
The applicants will get their licenses at the county headquarters after completing the simple online exercise.
“We are impressed by the high number of business men who have come to apply for the e-business permits,” said Kering.
He said high number of applicants are from the urban areas compared to rural areas.
“We are planning to carry out sensitization exercise in rural areas to increase the uptake of the same in this areas."
He said that the low number of turn out in the rural areas was because of illiteracy level, adding that the sensitization would help them.
This is comes weeks after the county government of Uasin Gishu embraced new technology of cashless-paperless payment parking.
