The Nakuru County Service Board on Thursday failed to appear before the Assembly.
The board was to shed more light on the alleged irregular hiring of 130 enforcement officers by the county administration.
Board chairman Waithanji Mutiti and Secretary James Mbugua had been summoned by the Assembly Labour Committee which is probing the matter.
It is alleged that due process was not followed.
The two asked to be given more time to prepare themselves since the notice given was short.
According to the MCAs, board members demanded between Sh200,000 and Sh300,000 for those looking for enforcement jobs while accountants parted with up to Sh400,000 to secure the jobs.
