Uasin Gishu County government in partnership with the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) is set to build parking yards for trucks traversing through Eldoret town to other parts of Western.
In an announcement by the county's Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno, the project is aimed at decongesting the Nakuru - Eldoret highway.
"The county is working on establishing truck parking yards that will aid in reducing congestion witnessed along every upcoming shopping center and kiosk," Chemno said.
“Our proposed truck parking include Burnt Forest, Cheptiret, Cheplaskei which is the junction bypass, Kapseret, Mail Tisa, Jua Kali, Kosachei, Turbo, Mwamba and Kipkaren," he added.
Chemno was speaking on Monday at his office while hosting the KeNHA Corridor Management team who paid him a courtesy call.
He urged the management team to incorporate a body which will regulate roads encroachment.
