Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago has revealed his government will soon sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) on modalities to further partnerships on new and existing projects.
Mandago said this after a delegation from USAID paid him a courtesy call at his office in Eldoret town on Thursday to deliberate on the soon-to-be-signed MoU.
The governor further noted that the partnership, once signed, will focus on funding of Public Health Care (PHC) and Curative Services, equipment supply, infrastructure support and community strategy, which will build in towards achieving universal health care under the Jubilee big four agendas.
"The partnership will also focus on renovation of facilities, outreach services, disease screening services (specifically on HIV/AIDS and other communicable diseases) and capacity building for staff. It is significant to note that all county projects funded by USAID/AMPATH in the past, have been successful because the county government has the urge and willingness to work," said Mandago.
"I thank the team leader, Randolph Augustin, the Chief Health, Population and Nutrition, Country Director USAID together with Ampath Chief of Party Prof Sylvester Kimaiyo for their dedication and commitment to ensure that the partnership is on course," the county boss added.
