Njeri Gatabaki said that various rural roads across the county have been identified and earmarked for the rehabilitation.

Speaking to journalists at her office in Kiambu on Tuesday, Gatabaki said that the roads will be graveled and tarmacked in a bid to improve transport and movement of goods and people.

“We have set aside Sh94 million in our supplementary budget to rehabilitate over 100 rural roads before the end of the year,” she said.

The CeC said that most road renovations in urban centres that had been commissioned by the county are complete, adding that installation of street lights across the county is ongoing.

She said that the county is banking on proper infrastructure to realise economic development.

Ms Gatabaki urged elected leaders to work closely with the government as it implements development.

She also said that the county had acquired two graders that will be used to maintain roads.

Meanwhile, Waginge residents in Kabete Town want the county government to urgently repair the Waginge-Rukaka-Limuru road.

The locals, mostly bodaboda operators and taxi operators on Monday held protests over the poor state of the road.

They said the road has been rendered impassable with the heavy rains that are being experienced in the area.
