The county government of Nyamira has signed a deal with a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) from the Czech Republic to provide quality health services to the residents. Nyamira County Governor John Nyagarama said that they will work hand in hand with the NGO as a county government in ensuring that they get more machines for hospitals in the county, medical supplies and professional and competent health workers. He also called on stakeholders in the health sector to work together as they strive to improve their services across the county. “We received visitors from the Czech Republic who came to us through the church in Itibo and we have talked and agreed that we get into a partnership in health services,” said Nyagarama. He noted that the health machines that are donated from their country, specialists and medical supplies, the county government will be paying for their freight costs into the county. “They initially wanted to put up a small Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Itibo health centre but after consultation they also agreed to put one in Nyamira town where there are many people,” said the governor. Nyagarama added that the County Government will only pay for the shipping of the health facilities from the Czech Republic.
