Members of the Migori County Assembly on Monday re-affirmed their choice of house Speaker after electing Boaz Okoth Owiti.
Okoth garnered 39 out of the 55 votes cast with his closest challenger David Kerario Marwa securing only 16 votes.
Speaking after being sworn in, the Speaker promised to work together with all MCAs to ensure that they drive Migori forward and serve the people.
He congratulated Marwa for putting up a spirited fight and for being a worthy opponent.
Owiti's election brings to an end the long battle that began in September 2017 when his election was challenged in court by Mr Marwa.
Marwa had filed a petition seeking for a repeat poll claiming that Owiti's election was marred with violence.
The High Court after listening to the matter found that there was violence during the election and ordered for a new poll within 14 days.
