She said that some of the county staff were busy in political rallies besides the governor engaging in early campaigns at the expense of service delivery.

Ms Odinga claimed that the county government officials have failed in their responsibilities and are busy attending funerals with county vehicles instead of using the same to deliver services to the people.

The deputy governor put absentee staff on notice claiming most of them abscond from work on Fridays and come back to work late on Monday because of attending funerals.

“There is an emerging trend where county vehicles are seen parked outside hotels in Kisumu late in the night,” said Mrs Odinga.

She stated that county staff are holding their current positions as custodians of the public good and not to pilfer the resources saying it is saddening that some CeCs have not toured sub-counties to oversee what their staff are doing out there.

“Government officers must stop running around in funerals and rallies to drum up support for the government. That is not their work since they are not politicians.”

Ms Odinga said the only way senior county staff can help in drumming up support for the government is by ensuring that services are delivered proficiently to the public.
