Speaking on Tuesday at Matuu HGM primary school where he graced the zonal education day, Mwangangi explained that the State had set aside an amount of money that had already been issued to the rural electrification authority.

“We set aside Sh 7.6 million for installation of electricity in rural areas including all schools in our constituency that have not yet received electricity connection. We are surprised that the county government had to allocate more funds to the same project,” said Mwangangi

The MP further called upon the head teachers of the schools that have the project underway to confirm whether the contractors undertaking the electrification projects are from the electrification authority.

“Any persons whether in the National or county level intending to bring corruption or misuse of funds meant to serve the public should be dealt with as such activities should not be allowed.” He added

Mwangangi has made it clear that the Rural Electrification Authority (REA) has the mandate from the national government to efficiently provide high quality and affordable electricity connectivity in all rural areas and hence receive the necessary funds from the national government.
