More than 500 fishermen in Lake Naivasha and residents of Naivasha on Monday forcefully reopened a road leading to the Karagita Public Open Beach.
Led by Naivasha MP John Kihagi and Nakuru County Assembly Majority Leader Samuel Waithuke, they stormed the area causing a heavy commotion between them and the State officers, led by the area DC.
According to Waithuke, the road has been closed by a private developer saying that it is part of his land.
"We want to know since when the DC became the implementer of court orders. The OCS is the one who is supposed to effect a court order but not the DC," said Waithuke.
He added, "Go and tell those sending you here to close this road that they are chasing wind because nothing like that will happen."
Waithuke decried that the area has been grabbed by tycoons leaving the residents without any access to the lake.
"This place was full of people last December as they came to relax. Where do they want them to be going?" he asked.
