The residents led by Kinuthia Wamwangi filed a case of urgency at Kiambu High court accusing the county government led by Governor Ferdinand Waititu for violating the constitution and denying Kiambu locals their rights of participation.

The locals want the county government stopped from merging all water companies in the county because several residents working at water companies will be rendered jobless.

This comes after Kiambu County government announced that all the 8 water companies in the region will be merged before the month ends.

However, the residents said they will not allow Thika water and Sewerage Company to be dissolved since the move is ill and meant to render several people jobless.

“We have several people working at water companies. Merging the companies will render several workers jobless thus increase the number of local youths joining illegal gang groups,” said Kinuthia.

He called on Governor Ferdinand Waititu to drop the plan of merging the water companies since it will hurt the people of Thika who depend on water from THIWASCO.
