Physically disabled people from Nyamira have lauded the county government following the disbursement of Sh2 million per ward that would help them for the upkeep.
On Tuesday, most of those who were interviewed by HiviSasa.com said the funds will help them tackle some of the critical challenges they faced like clothing and other necessities.
They, however, asked the county government to increase the amount so that some of them would be able to educate their young ones in various schools.
“I am very happy of what the county has done for us. We were previously ignored since we couldn’t get essential services but now with the funds, most of these challenges would be a thing of the past,” said Charles Tai.
“As much I really thank the county leadership, I would like to urge them to increase the funds so that we can be able to educate our young ones. Most of us are unable to feed our families and therefore, that will really boost us,” added Mary Mwebi.
They were also unanimous that the county assembly comes up with a legislation that will put the fund under supervision of people who are physically disabled for efficiency.
“It will be illogical if the fund will not be under the care of one of us. The county assembly should come up with a legislation that will enable us control the fund rather than leaving the job to MCAs because they have a lot of jurisdiction,” Mrs Mwebi added.
