Kisii County through the ministry of health has targeted over 600, 000 children in and out of school to be vaccinated against Measles and Rubella within the specified age bracket of 9 months to 14 years.
Speaking at Kisii primary school during the launching of the national immunization exercise, Member of executive committee in charge of health Mrs Sarah Omache remarked that the figure would be surpassed in the one week exercise owing to adequate vaccines, stakeholders support and competent health staff.
“As the county we are targeting 600, 000 children during the one week exercise," said Omache.
Therefore, he challenged all stakeholders to support the initiative so that they can reach the target.
“I urge all stakeholders to make sure that we all work together so that we can reach the target, more so I urge parents to let their children be vaccinated since this it will prevent them from getting diseases," added Omache.
She also advised residents to understand that prevention is better than cure and that’s why the ministry of health in partnership with other stakeholders are organising such immunization drives.
