Nakuru County government will set aside Sh 1 milion per ward to help people living with HIV and AIDs and those living with disabilities.
Elementaita Ward rep Moses Ndung’u said that the county assembly would push for the allocation.
“We will push the county government to set aside the fund during the next financial year. This will cater for the people living with HIV and AIDs and those living with disabilities,” said Ndung’u.
Speaking during World Aids Day commemoration at Nyayo Gardens, Ndung’u said that the fund will help those affected by the disease to benefit by alleviating some of the burdens associated with the disease.
He noted that the fund will help in reducing infections to those living with the disease.
“The fund will make a difference in reducing infections like tuberculosis, pneumonia and Hepatitis B in people living with HIV and AIDs,” said Ndung’u.
He further said the disease has made many families unable to access the basic health facilities which are lowering the gains in the fight against the disease.
