President Uhuru Kenyatta's administration has announced plans to build roads worth Sh38 billion in Kiambu County.According to the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) boss Peter Mundinia, the government is targeting to build more than 124 kilometres of tarmac roads."In the next three years, the State will build more than 124 kilometres of tarmac roads at an estimated cost of Sh38 billion," Mundinia announced during a meeting with Governor Ferdinand Waititu at Kiambu County headquarters. He further said KeNHA had begun construction of the James Gichuru Junction-Rironi road in Limuru. The announcement comes a week after residents of Theta ward in Juja confronted Murtech contractors engineers over what they termed a shoddy job in the construction of a 4.7 km road that connects the ward to Thika Superhighway."The Sh180 million that was set aside for this road is enough for quality work. What is being done here is shoddy and unacceptable," said Francis Kimbimbi, a resident.
