Nyagarama said the process of tendering the classes was ongoing, and insisted that they will get an allocation during 2016/17 Financial Year.

According to the county boss, the construction of the classes is expected to be completed by September 2016, and official opening to take place when schools open in January 2017.

“My government is determined to see the early childhood education is boosted and it’s my pleasure to announce that the number of enrollment has increased substantially since 2013,” said Nyagarama in his speech on Madaraka Day.

“To this effect, the county government will build an additional 25 classes with each ward (20) getting at least one classroom. The other five will be distributed to areas where enrollment is high. I expect that by September this year the classes would have been completed,” he said.

He urged contractors to expedite the construction so that it fits the time frame of the county government for the sake of meeting the increasing demands of education at the tender level.

“Those who will win the contracts I urge them to expedite construction so that by January 2017 we start using the classrooms. We will also recruit more ECDE teachers this coming financial year,” Nyagarama said.
