The county government of Nairobi is set to implement an elaborate plan involving cleaning up the city.
It will entail clearing garbage, especially in the city's main markets.
Nairobi has of recent witnessed slowed activity in garbage collection.
Governor Evans Kidero on Sunday said his government was dedicated to seeing a clean city.
"Today (August 28), I presided during the Joint Seminar on Solid Waste management," he said.
"Solid waste management remains a major environmental challenge in many cities in the developing world."
The most affected areas he said, are in Eastlands' markets.
"As the TICAD6 conference draws to a close, I assure Nairobi residents to that we are committed not only to sustained designation of proportionately high percentage of our financial resources to waste management activities but also to learning from those who have registered remarkable success in the areas that we are still struggling with, without having to re-invent the wheel," Kidero added.
He was speaking at the Pan Afric Hotel when he met investors from Japan.
