Kisii county government has pledged to complete the ongoing refurbishment of Gusii Stadium in three months.
According to Kisii county executive committee member for culture, Sports, youth and social services Mrs Marcela Otuke, they have lost a lot of revenue due to the ongoing work at the stadium and she expected it to be complete in three months.
“I have personally talked to the contractors and he has assured the county government that they will be able to deliver the project on time,” she added.
She called upon all sports stakeholders in the county to have patience as they are working hard day and night to see the facility complete.
She regretted that the Kisii based club Shabana was forced to take Bomet stadium as their home ground but she believes they will start using Gusii stadium in a few months time.
“We want to fast-track the completion of the stadium because we are losing much revenue that would otherwise be gotten when fans flock the facility to watch local matches for a fee. We will also increase the sitting capacity. Works will be done simultaneously so as to complete in time,” she added.
She was speaking when she accompanied Kisii County Governor James Ongwae to meet women groups in Kisii county hall.
