The County government of Nyamira is set to build its first official sub county administration offices in Masaba North, County Secretary Erick Onchana has confirmed.
This comes after months of intrigues with the national government officials who claimed that the available land at Deputy County Commissioner’s offices in Keroka was a property of national government.
However, on Wednesday, Mr. Onchana confirmed permission from the national government to build the offices at the Assistant County Commissioner’s offices at Rigoma.
“We are set to build our first sub county administration headquarters at Rigoma after intensive negotiations with the local community and the national government. This will help our people get services nearer than travelling all the way to Nyamira,” he said.
“We are also in the process of negotiating in other remaining sib counties so that all sub county administrators gets permanent structures where they can work with harmony,” he added.
He said the offices will quicken service delivery insisting that it was part of the intended purpose of the devolved governance under the Kenyan constitution 2010.
“The spirit of the new constitution was to have people receive services at the nearest place as possible. This is a milestone and I think it’s the first office to be constructed not only in Nyamira because most counties haven’t reached that milestone. The contractor is ready for the task,’ he said.
