Addressing hawkers at Nakuru Central Business District (CBD) on Monday, Mbugua said his government is keen to promote business.

He said the county government recognises the role played by hawkers and traders in promoting the economy.

“My government is working on plans to establish modern trading stalls for hawkers across Nakuru,” he said.

Mbugua refuted claims that he is undermining the welfare of hawkers and traders stating that the evictions done by the county was to create space and order.

He said that hawkers will see the reason to why the county evicted some of them from certain areas when the county plan is complete.

Mbugua added that his government will continue to implement policies meant to boost the living standards of the people.

On the same note, Mbugua urged traders to form groups and access soft loans from banks and other financial institutions.

He observed that through loan application they would be able to promote their individual and group business ventures.

Mbugua further challenged them to apply for government funds and enhance their businesses.
