Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago has said that his administration will continue sponsoring students to pursue technical courses at Rift Valley Technical Training Institute (RVTTI).He said this will ensure students are equipped with skills and knowledge to contribute to the development of the country."Our intention as a County Government is to sponsor as many students until the time when we will have brought up engineers able to take up multi-billion infrastructure projects," he said during the RVTTI's 7th graduation ceremony, Friday."Transformation of every nation can only be done best through technical skills," he added.He, however, revealed that his government's sponsorship program will be widened such that graduates from RVTTI who qualify to be teachers to proceed to Kenya Technical Training Institute (KTTI) since other technical institutions will need instructors.As a way to ensure that technical personnel continues being empowered, Mandago said he will not allow any university to take over RVTTI, adding that the technical institutes play key roles in youth empowerment.PS for Vocational and Technical Training, Dr. Dina Mwinzi, said the national government has allocated Ksh 4 million for expansion of the Medical facility at the institution."We have also allocated Sh25 million to RVTTI for virtual learning that we ensure the institution embraces e-learning foe it took serve students not only in Kenya but across the world," notes Mwinzi.In the last five years, Uasin Gishu County government has sponsored 1800 students to pursue technical courses at RVTTI.
