Kisii county Governor James Ongwae has said that his government will continue supporting the health sector.

Ongwae, who chairs the council's committee on health, labour and social welfare said that he will continue supporting the health sector until it reaches its standards.

Addressing nurses on Thursday at Gusii stadium during the launch of International Nurses Week he said that his government is committed to supporting the health sector and it will continue doing so.

Ongwae said that 46% to 50% of his budget each financial year goes to the health sector and his looking into increasing it in the next financial year so as to cater for training nurses.

“My government has got measures of making the sector improve so that we can help all residents within the county and even our neighboring counties,” said Ongwae.

“By having the high percentage of our budget to health sector it is a clear indication that we are supporting it, I want to assure residents that we will continue improving the sector for the better of this county,” he added.

In addition, he said that he is going to ask all governors to make sure that their counties are always shining in the health department which is so crucial to residents.

“As the chairman of labour and  social welfare in the Council of Governors am going to mobilise my fellow Governors to ensure that the health departments is improved in our county,” said Ongwae.
