Speaking at Mt Kenya University where she hosted environmental clubs from all the Thika colleges on Wednesday, Njuguna said that it was disappointing to see people destroying the environment rather than planting trees.

She said that the tree nursery launched by Governor William Kabogo at Thika town will produce more than 10,000 trees to be planted in different parts of the sub-county.

“We can now easily access the seedlings that we can plant anytime we want," she said, adding that the exercise of planting trees should be made enjoyable.

The heads of different college environment clubs will be the committee members expected to liaise with the executive to make a date for tree planting.

Already, the lower part of the sub-county has started the tree planting exercise with the executive engaging the residents of Makongeni in the activity.
